Email address, if you sign up for our newsletter. Messages you send us by email, including your name and anything you choose to include.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and analytics tools receive standard technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.

Information that stays on your device

Our tools run entirely in your browser. Your quiz answers and calculator inputs are not transmitted to us. Your rollover checklist progress and text size preference are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device; you can clear them at any time through your browser settings.

How we use information

• To send the newsletter you asked for, and to respond to messages.
• To understand which guides are useful and improve the site.
• To keep the site secure and working.
• To comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them for analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as pages visited and time spent on the site. We enable IP anonymization and do not send Google any information that identifies you by name or email. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Affiliate links

When you click a link to a partner company, that company may place its own cookie in your browser so it can credit us if you become a customer. We receive only aggregate or referral information from partners, not the details you enter on their forms. Their own privacy policies apply on their websites.

How we share information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (such as our web host, email newsletter provider, and analytics provider), when required by law, or to protect our rights and users. These providers may use information only to provide their services to us. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising except as described in the cookies section above, which you can opt out of.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your personal information.
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.
• Not be treated differently for using these rights.

To make a request, email hello@heirloommoney.com with the subject "Privacy request." We will verify your request using the email address involved and respond within the time the law requires. You may use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends a GPC signal, we don't load Google Analytics.

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in every email.

How long we keep information

We keep newsletter subscriber information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and email correspondence for as long as needed to respond and keep reasonable records. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's settings, which we limit to the shortest practical period.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we work with reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Do Not Track

Browsers' "Do Not Track" signals have no common standard, so we don't respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control as described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We'll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, note them on this page.
